Pause fantasy football updates while you watch games on your DVR.

The Problem

If youre into fantasy football, then you most likely watch the games while using your leagues fantasy football app to monitor your fantasy teams scoring. If you record the game on your DVR to watch later, you have a problem. You cannot check your fantasy app because then you will know what is happening in the games. And you cannot use the fantasy app while watching the recorded game later because the app will reflect scoring that has already happened.

The Solution: FantasyDVR

The FantasyDVR app solves this problem by allowing you to delay consumption of game updates until youre ready. By synchronizing the FantasyDVR app with your DVR playback of the game, you can enjoy the full fantasy football experience at your convenience.

How It Works

To use FantasyDVR, you have to create one or more lists of players. You can create lists for your active players, your bench players, your opponents team, or any other group of players youre interested in following. Tap the + in the upper right corner of the Player Lists screen to add a new list.

Once youve created the list, you have to add players to the list. Tap the row containing the name of the list you just created. Tap the + to add a new player to your list. On the Position screen, tap a position. On the Players screen, choose a player by tapping the players name. Players are ordered by their projected point totals for the current week by default. You can select the Season option to see the how players were ranked at the beginning of the season. You may add as many players as you want to a list.

Once you have your lists created, tap the Refresh button (the circular arrow) in the lower right corner of the screen to retrieve the latest scoring updates for your players.

Each player in your list will have a stat line showing his detailed statistics and the corresponding points. The scoring system used in this app in the ESPN standard scoring format. On the lists screen, for each list, the total points for all players in the list is shown.

Using the DVR

The default behavior of the app is to fetch the most recent stat updates for all players. By using the DVR settings, you can have the app only fetch stats up to a certain time, allowing you to delay updates until youre ready for them.

For example, say you record a 1pm game on your DVR and cannot watch the game until 2pm. Using the apps toolbar, tap the Rewind button (two left-pointing triangles) to delay the game updates. Each tap of the button delays the update by five minutes. Tap the Rewind button until the label reads "-60 min". Now youre ready to watch the game. Tap the refresh button periodically to fetch game updates delayed by one hour.

If you wish to move forward in the game, say, if you fast forward your DVR through a commercial or two, use the Fast Forward button (two right-pointing triangles) to reduce the delay.

Like a DVR, if you wish to get the most current stats, tap the Live button. The most current stats will be displayed.

Usage Notes

The app works for the current weeks games after the first game of the week has started. Typically, NFL weeks start on Thursday evenings and end on Monday evenings. This is the window during which the app will work. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and until game time on Thursdays, the app will return an error stating that the current weeks games have not begun.
